View looking north from the woods where Major Fleming’s Vermonters had their breastwork. The Georgians of the 22ndGeorgia Regiment chased Morrill’s men across this field to the breastwork. Judge Henry C. Roney remembered, “They [the Vermonters]) reached the wooded section at the end of the field in the form of a horseshoe. There they re-formed and with the aid of reinforcements poured into us a murderous fire.” The red structure is the barn of Jim Reiter’s dairy farm.
